Children’s Services

The Children’s Department, which is located on the second floor of the library, offers materials in many formats for children of all ages.

Each week we offer several storytimes for toddlers and preschoolers. On Tuesdays at 10:00 AM, we offer Tuesday Tales at Ten for ages three and up. On the second and fourth Friday of every month at 10:00 AM, we offer Toddler Time, which is a lapsit storytime for ages 12 to 36 months and a parent or caregiver. For more information, please call 217-234-2621.

The Mattoon Library Children’s Department also has a variety of fun games, toys, puppets, and puzzles for your child to enjoy.

The Children’s Department offers special programs and reading incentives throughout the year, including:

  • Summer and Winter Reading Clubs
