MATTOON – Pianist and vocalist Jay Daniels will present his program “Here, There &
Everywhere” at 5 p.m. on August 7 at the Mattoon Public Library.
The program is a captivating musical journey through three legendary Beatles albums of
1966 and 1967—Revolver, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, and Magical Mystery
Tour. Patrons will delight in the haunting beauty of “Eleanor Rigby” and the nostalgic charm
of “Penny Lane,” then sing along to timeless favorites like “All You Need Is Love” and “Yellow
Submarine,” all brought to life with heartfelt piano and vocals.
For nearly 30 years, Daniels has been sharing the gift of timeless music with audiences
throughout the mid-Atlantic region. A native of Louisa County, Virginia, Daniels now resides
in Collingswood, New Jersey, just outside of Philadelphia.
Before moving to the Northeast, Daniels received some of his musical training at
Shenandoah University under the direction of Michael Forest, an acclaimed tenor who
spent nearly 30 years at the Metropolitan Opera House. He is proud to also collaborate with
a fellow New Jersey vocalist, Sarah Partridge.
Music is a full-time profession for Daniels as he brings his solo piano and vocal concerts to
libraries, senior communities, and other venues in the area – with nearly 30 concerts each
month. Previously, Daniels was also the host for the nationally syndicated jazz radio
program, Simply Timeless, heard on nearly 20 stations across the country until 2022.
“Our programs that offer music typically are well received, and we anticipate this will be no
exception,” said Library Director Carl Walworth. “Bringing a pianist to our library is a first in
my tenure, and we are looking forward to see Jay share his talents with our community.”
