Summer Reading 2025

About Summer Reading

Summer Reading at the Mattoon Public Library (MPL) encourages youth, adults, and families to
read during the summer and engage in fun activities at the library all summer long!

Reading Challenges

Let us help you meet your reading goals this summer by participating in our summer reading challenges. MPL uses a digital platform called Beanstack to help community members log reading hours and earn prizes in return!

Art Contest

This year’s theme is Color Our World. When you open a book, do you picture the scenes in your head? Are they in color? Black and white? If you paint a picture, will it be bright or muted? Created a piece of art that shows how colorful (or lack of) your world is. The only limit is your imagination. Follow the links to see full rules, guidelines, and prizes!

Program Schedule

MPL will host FREE interactive youth programs aligned to this year’s theme, “Color Our World,” from June 6 – July 25! Programs will be held on the Children’s Floor unless otherwise stated. Registration is strongly encouraged. Events are to be held on Friday mornings instead of Story Time. To register for any of these programs, click on the links below!
