Reading is contagious.  Even better then reading a good book is sharing it with friends, or sharing it with a stranger.  Book clubs are the perfect opportunity to participate in this sport.  And a sport it is, because reading exercises your mind.  

More and more books written for teens are crossing over into mainstream adult best seller lists.  The first big splash was Harry Potter.  It was joined by Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and most recently Twilight.  Likewise the young adult genera has become such a big seller that typical adult authors have begun writing books for teens.  James Patterson made a big splash with his Maximum Ride series which has lead to Daniel X, and coming soon Witch and Wizard.  Robert Parker recently took his Spencer character and writes about how he got his start as a teen in Chasing the Bear. Other authors who are braving this crossover: Kim Harrison, Kelley Armstrong, Dave Barry, and Ridley Pearson, with even more adult authors jumping on the band wagon.
